While many developers today use Script Triggers to validate their fields, there is an old school method that performs this task. There are many types of validation that can be added to your data entry with only a few simple clicks in field options.
If you are using FileMaker Server 13…then you can easily setup a Survey or Registration web page that fills information directly into your FileMaker database… without any programming. The trick is to get the browser to “auto-login” to a WebDirect page. This video will walk you through the process of setting this up. This video also shows you how to hide the toolbar and the menu bar…so the user cannot “see” they are in FileMaker. Very Cool!!!

Launcher files are easy to make, and can be very helpful when giving your users access to their database. Rather then having them worry about server IP’s you can make a simple, small FileMaker file that will automatically launch the user into their database system.
